Fines and Enforcement
Initial Ticket: Fines for improper garbage storage on private property are generally $200 for individuals and $400 for corporations.
Compliance Order: If a violation is found, a bylaw officer will issue a notice requiring the owner to clean up the property by a specific date.
Failure to Comply: If the garbage is not removed, the city may remove it and add the costs, along with a penalty, to the property taxes.
Neglected Property Fee: For cases where the city has to step in, a combined penalty/service fee of $200-$250 is typically charged, depending on the scope of the issue.
